What is an Employment Pass (EP)?
The Employment Pass (EP) is a specific work permit designed for foreign expatriates with specialized skills to work legally in Malaysia.
It is an employer-specific pass, meaning the permit is tied to your company, and it offers several tiers based on salary and job seniority.
Employment Pass Category (I)
- Basic monthly salary minimum RM 15,000 and above
- Up to 5 years of valid employment contract in Malaysia
- Spouse and Children (below 18 years old) are eligible for Dependent Pass
Employment Pass Category (II)
Basic monthly salary between RM 5,000 and RM 9,999
Maximum 2 years of valid employment contract in Malaysia
Spouse and Children (below 18 years old) are eligible for Dependent Passes
Employment Pass Category (III)
Basic monthly salary between RM 3,000 and RM 4,999
Maximum 1 year of valid employment
Spouse and Children (below 18 years old) are NOT eligible for Dependent Pass
Needs approval from the Immigration
